Small Eyes Catch Comet 'Sneeze'

Small Eyes Catch Comet 'Sneeze'
Hi-Res JPEG (57.6 KB)

The Dream Weaver Observatory, Fillmore, Calif., observed Tempel 1 on the nights of June 21, 23 and 28, 2005, using the same filter and exposure time. A picture from each night is shown here. The comet is in the middle of each frame and appears brighter on June 23 (center), compared to June 21(left) and 28(right).

The Deep Impact spacecraft observed this same outburst with all three of its instruments. The Dream Weaver Observatory is part of the Small Telescope Science Program of the Deep Impact mission. Small telescopes provide observations that compliment the Deep Impact spacecraft data.
