Tempel 1 as seen with the medium resolution imager through a clear filter on May 30, 2005. The spacecraft was 31,184,802.5 km (19,377,340 miles) from the comet. The image shows Tempel 1 in a field of background stars where some stars are partially obscured by the comet's coma.
