Observations from Canada France Hawaii Telescope, July 4, 2005

Observations from Canada France Hawaii Telescope, July 4, 2005
Animated GIF (21.5 MB)

Observations were obtained at the Canada France Hawaii Telescope with the wide-field imager called Megacam. Data were obtained July 4 with 10 second exposures. The comet's coma has been modeled and removed from each image to enhance jet and outburst activity. Note that the dark spot embedded in the bright coma, is a mathematical artifact of the image processing and is not real.

Observations were made by Jana Pittichová and Yan Fernández of the Institute for Astronomy, University of Hawaii as part of the ground-based collaboration with the Deep Impact project.
