Solar Array Panel

Solar Array Panel

Seen here, wrapped for shipping, is one of two solar array panels that will provide power to the spacecraft. Solar cells will be bonded to the front surface of the panel and all of the wiring connecting the cells is routed on the backside of the panel. The panel is 2.7 x 1.5 meters (9 ft x 5 ft) with an ultra-lightweight honey-combed core and exterior facesheets made of graphite fiber. It weighs less than 11 kg (25 lbs).
