PI Update - February 2004

This month we achieved a major milestone. As you know from previous messages, our testing program had uncovered a number of problems in the spacecraft computer. In mid-January we finally determined how we would deal with all of the problems that had been uncovered and we sent the computers out to have the circuit boards modified to correct the problems. In late January we also released the latest upgrade to the spacecraft operating software. This release includes some additional features that were not in previous releases but it also includes some changes that allow us to work around some of the hardware issues that were discovered but more easily fixed in software than in hardware. We anticipate getting the computers back in February and integrating them into the spacecraft. We will then prepare the system for environmental tests.
